We’ve already said once that Deceive Inc. is probably the closest thing to James Bond. In fact, the upcoming suspenseful shooter features classic spy movie elements. For example, gadgets and gizmos you can equip or maps, which look like they’re straight out of a Bond movie. However, to say that he only imitates the work of Ian Fleming would be unfair to Deceive Inc.

In addition to paying homage to mainstream spy media, Sweet Bandits also puts a tongue-in-cheek spin on Deceive Inc. that both parodies and honors spy movies. There’s both Austin Powers and James Bond in Deceive Inc. in the best way possible, as you engage in some serious shootouts with enemy spies while sporting a bright purple suit and big ’70s mustache.

We may be going too fast. Deceive Inc. is an upcoming multiplayer strategy game. In it, you will have to extract an important cargo from a safe. In multiplayer and singleplayer, you will need to disable all security mechanisms to access the briefcase and request removal. At the same time, you’ll face NPC guards and enemy spies who disguise themselves as anything from a random civilian to a flowerpot.

You can also disguise yourself, but you have to be careful because only certain people can enter specific parts of the map. For example, you can disguise yourself as a guard to avoid attracting attention in a guarded area.

Deceive Inc. focuses a lot on suspense and intrigue. Not only will you have to be aware of every move you make so as not to arouse suspicion, but you will also start to question the behavior of every NPC around you, checking if they are really spies who are waiting to attack you.

In addition to your intelligence, in Deceive Inc. you have many options and combinations of equipment. Your first and most important choice in this game will be your agent. The Sweet Bandits divided the eight spies into four categories. But with these types of beacons, as Vanguard will let you know your spy can take a bit of damage, each agent will be unique. I’m sure at least one of these stylized characters will catch your eye, because like everything Deceive Inc., they exude personality.

With each agent, you will also have many customization options that you can acquire as you progress through the game, such as weapons, gadgets, and special abilities. There are tons of possibilities, because while you won’t be stepping on any other operator’s toes with your loadout, there are some aspects of your playstyle that you can change. Chávez, the agent I liked the most, can change one of his abilities to protect his team with a shield. But if you want to play more selfish, you can modify this ability to make yourself invulnerable. With three options of weapons, abilities, and passives for each Agent, there’s plenty of room for customization, not to mention the cards you can equip to gain different bonuses in a match. All of these features, again, just add more detail to how you play each game and build your own character.

You can feel how deep and detailed Deceive Inc. is while playing it. It is very attractive for its colorful and bright visual graphics, cute characters and dynamic gameplay. However, it’s not a game you’ll give up after playing for a few hours and racking your brain trying to figure out everything that needs to be done. Each map is full of details and surprises, as well as stylistic details like televisions that hide secret hallways. You’ll need to spend quite a bit of time at Deceive Inc. to understand the ins and outs of each map, as not all of them can be navigated the same way. Some are more vertical, while others become a maze of nooks and crannies to hide in. Even after learning all the maps and mastering all the agents, you won’t be guaranteed victory. At Deceive Inc., everything gets so chaotic at the end of a game that even a novice can unwittingly land a win (beginner’s luck).

Talking to the developers while playing Deceive Inc., I could see all the passion behind this game. The devotion to spy movies, the inside jokes and references of each of the characters and maps, and the gameplay to investigate combine to create an incredibly fun multiplayer game, whether you like exploration shooters or thrillers, or something in between.
