A massive new Darkest Dungeon mod completely overhauls the game, adding new enemies, story quests, characters, and more to the gothic roguelike adventure of Red Hook. Enthusiastic? Well, it’s out now, and it’s free.
Black Reliquary can also be an extension of Darkest Dungeon given the number of changes it brings. Adding new characters, a new story and much more, the long-awaited mod has finally been released to the world.
“Black Reliquary is a complete overhaul mod for Darkest Dungeon that takes advantage of the original systems while building, refining or transforming almost every aspect of them,” writes developer Team Reliquary. “This mod features an all-new story and campaign in an exotic new desert location, with fully voiced narration and soundtrack. Venture into the valley, reach the Black Reliquary and reveal its ancient secrets.”
Although the mod itself is free, requires a copy of Darkest Dungeon to playas well as the Crimson Court and Shieldbreaker DLCs. If you don’t own them, a bundle with DLC and the base game is currently available on Steam.
Black Reliquary is the perfect way to kill some time before Darkest Dungeon 2’s May 8 release date. Ahead of the sequel, – Game News spoke with Red Hook at GDC 2023, where they revealed Darkest Dungeon 2 DLC is coming and will allow the developers to “keep doing good things.” No expensive passes or cosmetics shop here, folks.
