How to Win in Crossed Wands Duels

There are three Crossed Wand Duels in total at Hogwarts Legacy. You can fight each one alone or bring a friend with you. When asked if you want to duel with a partner, we recommend that you always say yes. It doesn’t matter which one you choose, so choose the one you would most like to develop a friendship with, as this will help your relationship progress.

Use the training dummy.

There is a practice dummy that you can use to practice certain spells and combinations between rounds. We recommend using the dummy multiple times, completing the challenges associated with it, just to get used to juggling enemies. This shows you that with the right combination of Accio and Levioso, you can keep an enemy in the air and hit them with dozens of hits without them having the chance to hit you.

First round of crossed chopsticks

In the first round, you face two students. It’s easy as a couple because you can target one student each. Keep an eye on the incoming spell gauge and block each time to avoid taking damage. It’s also a good chance to maintain your block and Stun your enemy, leaving them open for a few hits later. In this round, you will face enemies with yellow and blue shields. Use Accio to remove a blue shield and bring an enemy closer to you for a few free hits. Use Levioso to remove a yellow shield and give yourself a chance to hit that student with wand shards. If your health is too low, drink a potion and continue to defeat this pair of students.

Second round of crossed chopsticks

The second round of Crossed Wands pits you against three students. They will still only have blue and yellow shields, but the extra enemy makes it a tougher fight. Try to focus on one student at a time. Dodge or block incoming attacks, and note that you can cast Protego and hold to use Stupefy on a different enemy. This allows you to keep an enemy’s shield down so you can finish them off faster. If you get hit by Accio or Levioso, follow the on-screen prompts to escape. If you don’t, you will be hit by the student who cast the spell. Focus on one enemy at a time and you should finish this round easily.

Crossed Wands Championship Tour

The third and final round of Crossed Wands is the championship round. This round pits you against four students, and it’s the toughest of them all. This tower features red shields, which can only be broken with the use of fire spells like Fire. Focus on the students with blue and yellow shields first, as you can damage them from a distance. You can use Ancient Magic this turn, so shoot any object you see to damage students faster. Thrown items also break shields, meaning you can remove a red shield without having to get too close with the Fire spell. Like every round, focusing on one enemy at a time will help you defeat them faster. Keep blocking and dodging as necessary, and you’ll pass the round easily. However, we suggest stocking up on a few potions beforehand, as we ended up with three in the end.
