Astronomy Class is a main story quest in Hogwarts Legacy, where you learn how to use astronomy tables. But no one teaches you how to use it. This means that when you and fellow astronomy student Amit Thakkar find your first astronomy table at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, you may find it hard to figure out how to use it. The good news is that using an astronomy table is simple, although it’s not entirely obvious how to do it.

How to Use the Astronomy Board During Astronomy Class at Hogwarts Legacy

The Astronomy class quest runs quite a long time in Hogwarts Legacy history, so by this point you’re probably used to having to figure out which spells work on certain objects and which don’t. So you’d be forgiven for thinking you have to cast a particular spell on or near the astronomy table to bring it to life. Especially since when you approach it, you don’t see any button appear. You might also think that there must be another object somewhere interacting with the astronomy table, but when you launch Revelio, nothing useful appears.

But you don’t need to cast magic or use other items to use an astronomy table. Just press the Square/X button next to the table, but you need to be exactly to the right of the table for the button to appear. It’s confusing because most small interactive objects in Hogwarts Legacy can interact with both sides, but the astronomy tables are an exception.

On one side of the astronomy table, you’ll notice there’s a post with a slot in the top. Climb this pole and press Square/X to slide your telescope into the slot. Then simply pan, rotate, zoom the telescope until the star constellation in the lens lines up with that in the sky.
