While the poster child for the dinosaurs may be the T-Rex, it’s important to remember that the Spinosaurus is just as deadly, especially in Ark: Survival Evolved. Known for its distinctive sail on its back and bad attitude, the Spinosaurus is one creature you don’t want to find alone in a dark swamp at night. The Spinosaurus, or Spino as it is known among gamers, has many uses and, if used correctly, can become a deadly force to be reckoned with. This guide will walk you through how to tame a Spinosaurus in Ark: Survival Evolved to ensure you don’t become a snack.

What does the Spinosaurus do and where to find it in Ark: Survival Evolved

The Spinosaurus is a dangerous predator that usually prowls the island’s rivers and swamps. Unlike other large carnivores, it has a relatively low range of aggression, making it more of a territorial creature than a true predator. Most of its time is spent frolicking and chasing fish and any other creatures that come too close to water or land. It uses its hooked claws, strong arms, teeth and conical jaws to kill its prey. For players considering a beach or waterfront base, you need to make sure you’re fully prepared to deal with one of those guys that pop up out of nowhere to devour you, your home. and your tames.

Unlike the Rex, the Spino is a semi-aquatic creature and gains a buff when exposed to water, increasing its speed and attack. He is capable of striking a four-legged or two-legged pose to attack, with greater mobility and turning radius when on his hind legs. The Spino is also very fast, not just in water, and has a very decent stamina and health pool. Being one of the only large carnivores on the Aberration map, it’s also a great tame to have on hand when exploring Radiant Zones. However, you won’t be able to find it on Scorched Earth.

What you’ll need and how to tame the Spinosaurus in Ark: Survival Evolved

Taming one of these guys is no easy task. Not only are they aggressive and do a lot of damage, but they also take a long time to tame once you take them down. It also has a fast torpor drain meter, which you’ll need to constantly check in case it gets too low. To tame the Spinosaurus, you will need the following:

  • Exceptional kibble x17 for a server with 1x taming speed or Raw Mutton.
  • Long neck rifle, crossbow or Tek bow.
  • Impact from tranquilizer darts, tranquilizer arrows, or elemental shards.
  • Narcotics or Narcoberries.

Getting high is your best bet for taming this creature. Don’t try to tame it in the water, or you’ll end up with lunch. The Spino will eventually start running once its torpor gets too high, but it won’t attack you, so you can chase it down and keep shooting at it as you go.
