Sons of the Forest will take you through different seasons, including winter. While some people may think gambling becomes fun when winter rolls around, it’s actually quite the opposite. In winter, you have to adapt to new methods to survive because the cold will affect your character. Therefore, to help you, we have put together a guide on how to survive winter in Sons of the Forest.

How to survive the winter season in Sons of the Forest

Find the winter jacket

The first thing to do after the onset of winter is the winter jacket. While other outfits in the game are made for aesthetic purposes, this jacket is made from materials that can keep your character warm while exploring the forest. To get it, you need to go southwest and find a camp near a river. This campsite has two abandoned tents, and you’ll find the jacket inside one of them. To equip it, all you need to do is access your inventory.

build a dryer

In winter, it will be difficult for you to find animals. Even if you set animal traps in several places, you won’t be able to catch many. Therefore, you need to prepare for the winter season in advance. To do this, we suggest you build a clothesline inside your base and hang some meat on it to store it. If it’s winter already, you can put a cannibal’s leg or arm on the clothesline and eat it after a day. Be sure to collect as much meat as possible, as you will need a lot of food to survive the winter.

improve your defense

You won’t be the only one bothered by the harsh winter conditions, as the cannibals will also become more aggressive. This means that you will have to be very careful while exploring the forest. But the worrying part is that cannibals will start visiting your base more frequently, so be sure to build defensive walls around them. In addition, it will be advisable to place observation towers in each corner of the base in order to spot enemies from a safe distance.

save water

Almost all water sources freeze over in the winter, so you should look for streams that come out of frozen lakes and rivers. Since it can’t be a bit difficult, you have to build a jar using the 3D printer and store water in it. This way you won’t have to worry about finding water spouts from time to time.

use a torch

As the cold can have a negative effect on your character, you must keep him warm at all times. For this you need to create a torch and keep it in your hands while you explore. The heat from the torch will keep your character warm and you can explore with ease. Don’t worry; Crafting the torch is quite simple, as all you need is a piece of stick and fabric.
