The rock slab with three crab-like creatures is located on the southeast side of the Gale Cliffs. It’s in a little break between the cliffs, but that’s the only object of interest there. See above for a map reference for this location.

Although he doesn’t explain it to you, this rock slab needs to have three specific crabs inserted in order to solve it. This means you’ll need to purchase Crab Pots and throw them into the waters around the Gale Cliffs.

You need to bring two Rock Crabs and a Decorator Crab to the rock slab. Place the Decorator Crab at the bottom of the rock slab and place Rock Crabs on top and to the side of its massive shell. Once you insert the final crab, Rock Slab will respond and reward you with Mouth of the Deep.

What is Mouth of the Deep and how is it used?

Mouth of the Deep is the best crab trap in Dredge, and you can get it very early in the game. This crab trap is the biggest you can use, nothing you can buy is bigger and it has a shelf life of 10 days. Most Crab Traps need to be picked up and repaired after 5 days, but Mouth of the Deep will go on for a long time. We used this crab trap to collect crabs and other creatures while completing Dredge Sea Chases, allowing us to earn money without putting in extra effort or deviating from the main quest. Whether it’s collecting heirlooms, finding a new home for a dog, or delivering tacky packages to strangers in small seafaring villages.
