In Hogwarts Legacy, Merlin Trials are puzzles and challenges created by the legendary wizard Merlin, a former Slytherin student of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and court wizard of King Arthur. There are nearly 100 Trials of Merlin scattered across the wizarding world, and some are more difficult than others. One of the most difficult is near Central Hogwarts Valley Floo Flame.

How to complete Merlin’s trial near the central flame in the valley of Hogwarts
If you’ve already freed Arn’s carts from the Goblin camp during the Carted Away side quest and then talked to Arn, then he will have left Hogsfield and settled on the west side of a bridge in the central valley of Hogwarts . Merlin’s Difficult Trial is on the east side of this same bridge. It is also a short distance south of Central Hogwarts Valley Floo Flame.

It’s one of Merlin’s type of tests that requires you to light three braziers in quick succession. The braziers are quite far apart, so the fire probably won’t cut it, and you should learn Confringo before attempting this Merlin test. All three braziers are in or near the river, and the best strategy is to stand near the second brazier where you can see all three braziers and shoot them one after another without moving too much. If you’re having trouble finding them, launch Revelio to make them appear bright blue.
The first brazier can be found southwest of the Merlin Trial marker, on a pillar in the river next to the bridge.

The second brazier is on the bank to the west of the Merlin Trial marker and is not on a pillar.

The third blaze is on a small island in the river, west of the Merlin Trial marker.

Blow up all three braziers with Confringo, and if you do it fast enough, Merlin’s trial will be over.
