Destiny 2’s Lightfall expansion hits everyone on February 28. Starting at 9am PT, the servers will open and all players will be eager to jump into the expansion and explore Lightfall for a chance to experience the Strand. However, there are some issues leading up to the release of this expansion, and Xbox Series X|S players will not be able to join the servers due to some issues. Fortunately, Bungie has a solution. Why is the Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion not working on Xbox?
Ahead of Lightfall’s worldwide release, developers Bungie explained how players playing on Xbox can enjoy Lightfall in light of these bugs. Players have to go through a few steps, but it shouldn’t be too difficult and should ensure that all players can enjoy exploring Neptune and unlocking the Strand on launch day.

We are investigating an issue that is blocking the connection for some Xbox Series X|S players. These players will not be able to log into Destiny 2 when the game comes back online on February 28, 2023 at 9am PT (-8 UTC) unless the following steps are completed: (1/4)

All players will need to close Destiny 2, highlight it in their menu, and click the Menu button. Next, they need to go to “Manage Games and Add-ons”, then select Destiny 2. Next, they need to unlock Destiny 2: Forsaken: Black Armory, Joker’s Wild, Penumbra, Forsaken Annual Pass, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind. . then save these changes. These changes should happen immediately, and Destiny 2 will perform a quick install to remove these items.
After removing them, Xbox players should have no problem jumping into Lightfall and playing. Hopefully this won’t cause any further issues, but it shouldn’t prevent players from accessing specific game details, especially around new content.
