Sons of the Forest is a survival game, and you have the luxury of building your own base. This is not limited to building a small shelter where you can live, but a massive base where you can place several structures. These structures can be built with the Crafting Book and you will need a lot of materials to build them. However, for some structures that require wood, you will need planks. How to Create Planks in Sons of the Forest
Many Sons of the Forest players don’t know how to craft boards. This is because the game does not provide instructions on how to craft them and you have to figure it out on your own. However, the process is quite simple and requires you to collect logs.
To get logs, you have to cut down trees. Each tree will give you logs. You can use the small ax you get at the start of the game to chop down trees. However, since it is slow and weak, we suggest getting either the Modern Ax or the Fire Ax. Both of these are powerful and can help bring down trees quickly. And if you want to speed things up even more, get the chainsaw.
After getting logs, you need to place one on the ground. Then stand at the end of the log and take out your axe. You should adjust your aim until you see a red dotted line across the folder. When it appears, press the left button and your character will split the log to make planks.

From each record you can get two boards. Therefore, you need to cut down multiple trees to get a lot. You can then use them to build structures that require planks, like the small log cabin.
