How to Create a Watchtower in Sons of the Forest
To build anything in the game, you must first access the crafting book. This can be done by pressing the ‘B’ key. If the book is in your right hand, you must hold down the “X” key to switch modes. With the book in your left hand, click on “Shelter” then navigate through the options until you find the watchtower. Click on it and a white outline of the tower will appear. Now go to where you want to place it then press the right button.

The next thing you need to do is gather the necessary materials. The observation tower requires 60 logs and 1 rope. However, you need to further divide the logs into different parts, as you will need 49 logs, 2 half logs, 5 quarter logs, and 17 planks. To create a half log you need to equip your axe, go to the center of the log and right click after a red dotted line appears. And to create room records, you will need to target the sides of the record. As for the rope, it can be found as normal loot in various places.
Once you have managed to acquire the necessary materials, approach the outline of the tower and start pressing the ‘E’ key repeatedly until you have placed all the logs. Once this is done, you can climb the observation tower and explore the surroundings of your base. Make sure you have placed a watchtower at each corner of your base. You can also connect them all. To do this, place a piece of log vertically on top of each watchtower, then use the rope gun to attach a zipline to each one.
