Facing darkness will be a common thing for you in Minecraft. Whether you’re digging tunnels or exploring at night, the last thing you want is to get lost or be attacked by a hostile mob you can’t see. There are several ways to get a light source, but the first you’re likely to get is the basic torch. Here’s how to make them.

How to Make Torches in Minecraft

To craft a torch in Minecraft you will need a stick and a coal or coal. Any of these resources will work. Obviously, you can find coal quite easily in dungeons and caves. You can collect it by breaking the block with any type of pickaxe. Charcoal is something you can make yourself with an oven if you don’t want to go out and find charcoal. Sticks are made by splitting wood into boards and then into sticks.

Once you have your items, go to a crafting table. The torch crafting recipe is a bit unique compared to many other items. The only requirement is that you place the charcoal or charcoal directly on the stick anywhere on the grill. This will create four torches that you can move around in your inventory.

After creating a torch, you can place it on the ground or on the walls. When set, a torch will create a source of light that you can see. They are useful for traveling underground as you can place them all on one side of a wall to keep track of where you have been. The light source can also prevent hostile mobs from spawning in this area. If you put a bunch of them around your house, you won’t have to deal with so many vines, spiders, skeletons, and zombies.
