Does Sons of the Forest have dedicated servers?

Sons of the Forest is currently in Early Access, and that comes with the repetitive warning that just about anything can be expanded upon in the future as the title progresses. However, at this time, there are no dedicated server options for a host to maintain an active server. Additionally, developer Endnight Games Ltd hasn’t said if they plan to make this possible in the future. Currently, the best option available for Sons of the Forest is to host a multiplayer game, although that’s not what many hope to achieve. The “custom” difficulty allows players to change many variables to make the game more online with a group of friends.

While The Forest had the option of hosting a dedicated server, this option was only introduced well in the beginning. It’s likely, though not guaranteed, that we’ll see similar treatment for Sons of the Forest as Endnight Games continues its foray into the early access program. Players will be able to check if Sons of the Forest has released a dedicated server app by checking in the ‘Tools‘ from your Steam library, or by bookmarking this page – we’ll update it as long as Sons of the Forest finds itself with dedicated server tools during one of the many updates planned by the developer.
