Hogwarts Legacy is full of exotic locations to explore. Some of them are home to puzzles and quests, others are full of exciting enemies and artifacts. This guide explains how to get to Lake Marunweem, a place teeming with some of the best mounts in the game.
How to get to Lake Marunweem

To get to Lake Marunweem, you need to go to the bottom of the Hogwarts Legacy map. You can easily find Lake Marunweem, but to reach it you will have to fight through a dungeon bottleneck. The dungeon is called the Tomb of Betrayal, and it’s the lowest point you can access on the map with a broom. Once there, you will find that the hills prevent you from flying any further, which means you have to dismount and head towards this place. To enter, mark the Tomb of Betrayal Floo Flame on your map and use your broom to get there. Next, look for the large cave entrance nearby. Beware, there are loyal goblins attacking you on sight and you need to be level 16 to fight them.

The Tomb of Betrayal is full of goblins who will fight you if they catch you. We found that the best way to pass was to cast the Charm of Disillusionment, which you get in the Secrets of the Restricted Section quest. Throw it and move around the goblins where they stand guard or patrol the cave. If you find them blocking the way, fire a wand at a nearby wall to distract them and move them away, clearing a space for you to sneak through.

At the exit of the cave, you will have to fight against a group of goblins with an enemy boss named Ogbert the Odd. We recommend using Ancient Magic to take out the boss and another enemy, leaving two or three for you to attack afterward. Defeat these enemies, paying close attention to their shields and appropriate counter-spells, and you can exit the cave and fly to your destination.

Open the map and mark the Marunweem Floo Lake Llama on your map and fly there as you see fit. This area has a lot of enemies, but you don’t need to fight any if you just want to fly around the lake. Best to go straight there and activate the Floo Flame so you can quickly return there in the future. This is one of the places where you can find Thestrals, so look for a pack if you want one.
