The developers have been constantly adding new weapons to Fallout 76’s Legendary gear pool. With the Season 12 Mutations Update, Cold Shoulder was added, Rip Daring’s signature weapon that he uses during the Cryptid hunt. This legendary shotgun can be yours if you know how to unlock it. How to Unlock Cold Shoulder in Fallout 76
Each of the Fallout 76 updates comes with additional legendary weapons to obtain. In previous updates, the developers added weapons like Foundation’s Vengeance. Most of the added weapons can be obtained from events. The cold shoulder, on the other hand, is not on an event quest. At least not now.

To get the Cold Shoulder Shotgun, you’ll need to fight your way through the Season 12 marker, which is themed around Rip Daring’s Cryptic Hunt. The shotgun is unlocked by reaching fourth place in the leaderboard. Once you reach rank four, you can claim the shotgun blueprints. You automatically learn shotgun blueprints this way, so you won’t be able to buy them from another player.

After learning the blueprints for the Cold Shoulder Shotgun, you can craft it at any of the weapon workshops around the map using the following materials:
- 4 Adhesive
- 3 speeds
- 2 legendary modules
- 4 oil
- 7 screws
- 16 steel
- 7 Madeira
You will also need to have the Gunsmith perk ranked up to rank two in order to build the weapon. Without it, the weapon will appear locked to the weapon workbench you are using. The Cold Shoulder comes equipped with the following perks:
- Quadruple ammo capacity
- +50% damage to Cryptids
- The target freezes, reducing movement speed for 4 seconds. Adds cryogenic damage.
