World of Warcraft is full of unique mounts to collect throughout the game’s many expansions. Some of these mounts have interesting or obscure ways to obtain them. During the Battle for Azeroth expansion, a hidden mount was added to the Darkshore area as an easter egg in the patch reveal scene. The Frightened Kodo mount is relatively easy to obtain if you know where to look and when. Here’s everything you need to know to scare the Kodo away.
Where to find frightened kodo in WoW
Frightened Kodo is a rare spawn on a random timer in the middle of the Battle for Azeroth version of the Darkshore area. It would have between two and six hours of laying time.

The Kodo is a friendly NPC that you have to click on to snatch it. You will receive the message: “Scared Kodo strokes your hand. He wants to come with you!” and the mount will be placed in their bags a few seconds later. Only the first person to click on the spawned mob will receive the mount. It disappears shortly after clicking or if no one does in about two minutes.

Frightened Kodo has six known spawn locations. Here is a list of the coordinates at which it has frequently spawned in the past:
- 41.3, 65.5
- 44.0, 67.5
- 41.3, 54.0
- 38.0, 66.0
- 39.2, 56.5
- 44.0, 65.0

There are several ways to increase your chances of finding the scared kodo. Server restarts seem like a good time to look for a spawn. It can be looted via class and level 50 checks on both factions. It doesn’t matter which faction controls Darkshore that it spawns or is available, so check back often to possibly add this mount to your collection.
