You will need multiple chances to find a shovel while playing Sons of the Forest. It’s an extremely useful tool for you, and adding it to your kit should make your life easier when gaming. Unfortunately, it’s a hard item to find when you start the game, so finding it may take some time. This is what you need to know to find a shovel in Sons of the Forest.
Where to find a shovel in Sons of the Forest
When you start playing you won’t have much to do, but you will have a GPS with a handful of markers that will guide you in several directions. Unfortunately, when you get to these markers or find graves near where you crashed, you have to use a shovel. Searching for the item in the immediate area will not return one. There are a handful of items you’ll need before you can pick up the shovel. You need to find the recycler and the Rope Gun, which is near the 3D printer.

How to find the recycler
You can find the recycler in the first cave you spawn in in Sons of the Forest, south of the crash site. Go inside, deal with the mutants and explore the cave. You should find the respirator near the water, next to a pile of corpses.
How to find the crank gun
The next step is to head to the 3D printer inside a hidden cave and head to a nearby cave. This will lead you to the Rope Gun, and you’ll have to fight off a horde of mutants to reach it.

Before you can fight the mutants, a large stain will block your path. However, we were able to destroy it using a time bomb, which we made from a C4 brick, five coins, tape, wire, a clock, and a printed circuit. Once you have all of that, you can craft the time bomb, throw it down the chute, and head into the cave.

The next problem is to go through this cave. It’s relatively dark and difficult to get there due to the number of mutants you’ll be fighting. We recommend lining your path with flares, having a flashlight ready, and carrying plenty of medical supplies and food. Our best advice for finding the Rope Gun is to continue through the cave and move forward following the path. Although dark, it is a clear path, with a handful of switchbacks. When you get to the end of the cave, you’ll find the Rope Gun, then you can jump from the Rope Gun location and exit.

The next part will bring you closer to the crash site. You want to find a cave near the base of the snowy mountain, which will hold the shovel inside. You will need to use the recycler and the rope gun to reach it.

When you enter the cave, hold the rope gun and interact with the rope that takes you to the other side.

When you get to the other side there will be an area of deep water that you can search for and you will find the shovel near the bottom of this area. You can then exit the cave and start digging holes on the island.
