Quicksilver Storm is one of the flagship Exotics in Destiny 2 Lightfall. It was given to players who pre-ordered the expansion and was eventually usable upon release. However, like many other Exotics, it has a catalyst that makes it better. This guide explains how to complete the quest Any Port in a Data Storm and get the Exotic Catalyst for Quicksilver Storm.

How to start any port in a data storm

Before you can get the Exotic Catalyst for Quicksilver Storm, you need to start the quest. You can only do this if you already have Quicksilver Storm. Then, as you progress through the Lightfall campaign, keep an eye out for the Hall of Heroes in Neomuna. After the first few quests, you will see an attractive exotic symbol. Hover over it to find out it’s Any Data Port in a Storm. Fast travel to this location and head to the terminal to pick up the quest and start it.
Stage 1 – Get data by killing enemies with automatic rifles, grenades and grenade launchers

The first step of this quest is to get data by killing with automatic rifles, grenades and grenade launchers in Neomuna. However, the biggest progression is achieved by defeating multiple opponents with Grenade Launchers.

We found that the best way to complete this stage was to equip the Grenade Launchers in our Special and Heavy Weapons slots with an Auto Rifle in the main slot. Then, head to Neomuna and kill enemies in public events, patrols, and main story quests in Lightfall. The required data accumulates quite quickly, especially if you use a powerful grenade launcher on weaker groups of enemies. Once you complete this step, you will be directed to Banshee-44 in the tower.

Step 2: Visit Banshee-44

Banshee-44 will be eager to chat with you if you used Season of Defiance’s Seasonal Exotic anyway, but this Quicksilver Storm Catalyst is the icing on the cake. He informs her that the weapon needs to be calibrated to her shooting style so that the nanomachines can be fully optimized. This unlocks the final step of the quest.
Stage 3: Kill with Quicksilver Storms Grenade Launcher Mode

It was at this point in the quest that we realized the Quicksilver Storm had two firing modes. You use auto rifle mode to hit weak spots, causing explosive bullets to fire. If these HE shells hit, they add a grenade to the weapon’s alt-fire mode, up to a total of three at a time. To complete this last step of the quest, you need to kill 50 enemies in Neomuna using this grenade launcher mode.

The best way to do this is to head into Neomuna and take on patrols or public events until you’ve registered those kills. Continue firing in auto rifle mode with the Quicksilver Storm and switch to grenade launcher mode when you see you have three ammo available. It took us about ten minutes to complete this part of the quest, making it by far the easiest. Once the quest is completed, the Exotic Catalyst will be available in Quicksilver Storm. But you will have to unlock it.
How to Unlock Quicksilver Storm Catalyst

You have one last thing to do before you can use this exotic catalyst. You need to unlock it by using Quicksilver Storm to kill enemies. We spent about five minutes doing just that and got around 2% progress, so you’re probably better off completing campaign missions and fighting squads or events until you’re done. Once unlocked, the Nano-Tangle Catalyst transforms Quicksilver Storm into an elemental weapon of the Strand. Any final hit with grenades will create tangles, Strand bullets that you can throw at enemies for massive damage.
