Disney Dreamlight Valley’s A Festival of Friendship update introduced many fun new features and elements, including substantial changes to inventory management and the ability to customize the exterior of your home. While the most noticeable change is the addition of new medium and large craft chests, you can now also create custom signs that you can place around your house or outside. These panels are going to be very important for storage organization because they are, as mentioned, customizable. Let’s see how to make them and everything you can do to help tame your chaotic home.
How to Create a Custom Road Sign at Disney Dreamlight Valley

The custom panel can be crafted on any crafting table. The recipe can be found in the Functional Elements category. It takes 10 softwoods to craft a custom sign, which is fairly easy to get since softwood is the most common of the four types. You can pick up Softwood from the ground near the trees in Plaza, Peaceful Meadow, Forest of Valor, and Glade of Trust. You can also purchase Softwood as it becomes available at Kristoff’s Stall.

How to Place and Customize a Custom Sign in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Once you’ve created a custom panel, simply go to the Furniture menu and select the Miscellaneous category, and you’ll see it listed in your items. Select your custom sign post and place it where you want. Each panel will take up a 2×1 area and cannot be placed on top of other objects, which means you cannot place a panel and a chest against the wall. You also can’t put signs on the walls, which can make it a bit frustrating to use signs to label chests in your house.

How to Customize a Custom Sign at Disney Dreamlight Valley

To customize your custom panel, approach it and the “Interact” option will appear. Press the corresponding button and a menu will appear with a variety of different icons. You can choose one of 21 different icons to display on the panel. There are icons that correspond to different types of items and gathering abilities. Just select the icon you want to use and the sign will update.
Unfortunately, there are no additional customization options for the panel beyond selecting an icon to display. You cannot change the color of the icon or the appearance of the signal itself in any way. That being said, you can change the icon displayed on a panel at any time, so hopefully a future patch will add new customization options for panels.
