System Link is the fifth stage you will tackle in the Utopia Expedition in No Man’s Sky. It’s the one that looks easy at first glance but requires a lot more thought to get it right. This guide explains how to pass the milestone so you’re not left in the middle of nowhere not knowing what to do next.

How is the system binding step completed?

To complete the System Link step, you need to find your spaceship. However, when we did this, we ran into a huge problem that upset the usual routine we follow with shipments. You can’t craft anything when you’re away from your base, so you can’t craft the materials you need to repair your ship when you find it. We’ve summarized everything you need to do in stages below. Follow this guide and you’ll have your ship in your base without needing to backtrack.
Step 1: Craft Repair Supplies

You’ll need to craft items to repair your ship enough to get it back to your remote base. To carry 40 Di-hydrogen create 1 dihydrogen gelatin. Refine 60 Carbon create 30 condensed coalthen create a hermetic seal. Refine 100 ferrite powder create 50 pure ferrite. Finally, use 50 ferrite powder create 1 metallic. That’s all you’ll need to repair your ship when you find it.
Step 2: Find your ship and repair it

You are now ready to go out and locate your boat. Get into the vehicle you created for the scenic route landmark and look for the spaceship indicator somewhere on the horizon. It should show a spacecraft within two minutes of the travel time. Continue to the indicator, we recommend using a nomad, and you will find your ship broken.

Step 3: Repair your ship and call it back to base

Use the items you created earlier in your base to repair your ship’s thrusters and pulse engine. Then take your nomad, or whatever vehicle you used to get there, and return to your base. Once there, use the remote system in your inventory to call your spaceship to land at your base. This is great because it means you have your vehicle and ship at your base, and you don’t have to travel far to get everything you need.
