As you go deeper octopathic traveler 2, you’ll come across side stories like “Procuring Peculiar Tomes” which are multi-part affairs. These often have to wait until their party members are level 35 or higher, due to the danger of reaching certain locations or the requirements to perform certain path actions. So if you want to help Montwise Library with their books, it might take a while.
There are three tomes you need to get for the Unusual Tome Specialist in the octopathic traveler 2 Quest line “Search for Rare Tomes”. Here’s the full list of what they are and where you’ll find them. The easiest to obtain is Beasting Island Dispatches, and The Curious Legend of the Great Wall will be one of the hardest to acquire due to its presence in the Stormhail region.
- The Curious Legend of the Great Wall: Southern Entrance of the Snows of the Southern Hailstorm. Steal it or buy it from the archaeologist. I got it for 1,900 sheets with Partitio.
- Beasting Island Dispatches: In the Beasting Village, buy it or steal it from the foreign traveler next to the save point. I flew it with Throne with no problem.
- From the Reaches of Hell – At the southernmost point of Crackridge, a troubled scholar will block a doorway. If Throne goes above level 30, he can ambush you and gain access to your house. The book is in a safe inside.
You must have all three books to complete “Procureing Peculiar Tomes” in octopathic traveler 2. When you bring them back immediately, the Rare Tome Specialist on the left side of Montwise’s Library will give you 6500 Sheets, a Librarian’s Charm, and a Refreshing Jam. This will also hint that another quest could possibly tie into From the Far Reaches of Hell.
