The Crucio Curse is one of the Unforgivable Curses you can learn in Hogwarts Legacy by completing the In the Shadow of Study quest. It’s not a traditional spell that teachers will teach you in class, but you can learn it through outdoor activities. All In the Shadow of the Study stages and unlock the Crucio spell at Hogwarts Legacy
The Crucio spell is available through side quests and you will learn it with Sebastian. He will talk to you after arguing with Ominis, who leaves after this exchange. When you talk to Sebastian, he shares that he wants to enter a secret Scriptorium that was created by Slytherin founder Salazar Slytherin. Although Ominis knows how to enter the place, he refuses to share it with Sebastian as he wants to avoid any connection with Dark Magic, given his family history. This conversation takes place in the quest In the Shadow of the Brood.

After listening to this exchange, continue to other story missions and wait for Sebastian to contact you, Ominis offering to help you. Finally, Sebastian informs you that he has made progress in the Scriptorium and needs your help with a quest called In the Shadows of Study. Head to Sebastian’s location and start the quest. He will take you to a hallway where Ominis is waiting for you and you need to open the secret door. To do this, you need to light up the three hallway pillars in quick succession. You can do this by using the Fire or Confringo spell.

When you get to the other side, the next door won’t open until you solve the puzzle. Approach the door and the puzzle key will be there, but the way to open it is on the other side, to the left. You’ll need to line up the pillar to match the key from the previous door before the snake comes in and bites you.

After unlocking this door, repeat this step with the right door, then there will be a third door with a partially revealed key. You will have to memorize it and then repeat it on the last pillar of the snake.

You can continue forward without the pillars, where you’ll enter a hallway and the door will close behind you. Then you have to use Revelio to see the words “Crucio” on the ground. When you can, talk to Sebastian then tell him you’ll talk to Ominis. After doing this, tell Sebastian you still want to learn how to use the Cruciatus spell and choose between casting the spell yourself or casting it at Sebastian. The choice is yours.

A short cutscene will play and you can enter the next room. To continue, find the Slytherin book on the desk near the door, then talk to Sebastian. The last part of the quest will take you out of the chamber, where you can talk to Ominis to complete the quest and learn Crucio.
