How to Catch Aberrant Exotic Fish in Troubled Waters

The method of catching outlier exotic fish that you will most often use is fishing. All Troubled Waters fishing spots have a chance of catching an Aberrant Exotic Fish. However, some have a light shining on them. If you fish them, you’ll have a higher chance of catching an Aberrant Exotic Fish. When trying to catch as many outlier exotic fish as possible, look for these shiny fishing spots and you’ll get the best results.
How to Catch Exotic Aberration Fish with Atrophy Ability

Once you find the necklace relic and return it to The Collector as part of the Dredge main quest, you will get the Atrophy ability. It’s an incredible power that you can use at any time during your travels to bring any nearby fish to the surface and float around you. From there, you can choose between these fish, many of which could be exotic outlier variants. We’ve found that this ability works best in bright fishing areas, but produces outlier exotic fish almost everywhere.
A word of warning when using the Atrophy skill. Once you use it, your sanity will plummet, putting you in danger of being attacked by all kinds of cosmic horrors. Try using Atrophy near a pier so you don’t get caught in the open with low sanity.

Spoilers for one of the game’s endings are yet to come.. Aberrant Exotic Fish are creatures that have been affected by the cosmic madness that infects the seas of Dredge. There is something wrong with this part of the world, and it affects the fish because they are the closest. The water is weird, which translates to weird fish, which makes many of the locals even weirder. Almost crazy.
