Emotes were added to Minecraft via update 1.16, which was released in June 2020. Emotes are basically actions your character can perform, such as waving or clapping. Minecraft has plenty of emotes for players to choose from, and some of them are unlocked by default. In this guide, we will explain how emotes work in Minecraft.

How to Use Gestures in Minecraft

Let’s first see how you can use emotes in Minecraft. To access the gesture menu, you need to press the “B” key on your keyboard. Console players, on the other hand, can open it by pressing the left D-Pad button on their controller. This will bring up the emote menu on screen and you can select your equipped emotes from here. To select new gestures, click “Edit emoticons”.

Apart from these, you can also buy many other emotes using Minecoins. However, the price of an emote will depend on its rarity. Common emotes can be purchased for 160 Minecoins, less common ones can be purchased for 310 Minecoins, and rare emotes will cost you 660 Minecoins. And for those wondering, Minecoins can only be purchased from the in-game store with real money. Once you’ve unlocked a new emote, simply click on it, then select “equip”.
