Eureka Orthos is an ever-changing dungeon in Final Fantasy XIV that has a different architecture each time players enter the facility. All players will start at level 81, and only by fighting the enemies inside will they be able to gain the strength and experience to reach the deepest depths of this deep dungeon. Let’s see how Eureka Orthos works in Final Fantasy XIV.
Where to Find Eureka Orthos Deep Dungeon in FFXIV
You can dive into Eureka Orthos in any level 81 or higher combat job by speaking to Khatun in Mor Dhona (X:34.8 Y:19.2) after unlocking it through the Delve Into Mythos quest chain. Players can participate alone or in groups of up to four players. You can also choose to save your progress and return to where you left off later. Once you reach floor 30, you will have the option to start from floor 1 to floor 21 by creating a new save file.
Note that your progress through previous deep dungeons has no effect in Eureka Orthos. You need to start over and regain strength here.
How to Complete Eureka Orthos in FFXIV
The goal of Eureka Orthos is to gain strength as you dive from floor to floor, eventually gaining enough levels and power to clear the facility. Your level inside the Deep Dungeon is not directly related to your level outside the dungeon. Gear doesn’t matter either, as you’ll automatically be equipped with Orthos Aetherpool Gear, which is dungeon-exclusive and can be powered by looting chests and leveling up in Eureka Orthos.
Floors up to 30 are tied to the Eureka Orthos story, so floors beyond that cannot be randomly queued for a matchmaking group. If you die at any time during the run, you are sent back to the start of the deep dungeon corresponding to the highest floor cleared in multiples of ten (i.e. if you die on the 21st, you come back to 20).
Players will loot treasure chests as they progress to help grant buffs or navigate the dungeon in the form of Protomanders. You can have up to three of each at any time between games. There are new ones to find in Eureka Orthos that are not available in other deep dungeons. These can be useful for dealing with the various traps scattered throughout the floors.
What are Demiclones in Final Fantasy XIV?

New to Eureka Orthos is the use of Demiclones. You can sometimes get tomestones from treasure chests which can be used to spawn Demiclones. These items can be used by all party members once acquired, and up to three tomestones can be owned within the party at a time. Tomestones cannot be transported outside of Eureka Orthos. When part of a matchmaking group, they cannot be used after completing a set of floors. Demiclones will follow and fight alongside the player who spawned them. Each demiclone has unique strengths, so choose carefully to turn the tide in your favor.

Players will be able to harness the strength of Dire Beasts by defeating them in Eureka Orthos. These are temporary buffs that turn the player into a creature and enable new abilities with large buffs.

Discovering the Cursed Treasure Chests in Eureka Orthos will allow the player to obtain it and bring it to Valeroine in Mor Dhona (X: 34.9 Y: 19.1) for him to assess and find out what is there has inside. Mostly you’ll earn tomestones, experience, and gil, but there are also rare rewards that can come from caches found on the upper floors of the Deep Dungeon.
Any cache delivered from floor 30 or higher will also grant an Orthos Aetherpool Shard. This is used to fortify his Orthos Aetherpool weapon for possible use outside of the Eureka Orthos.
