What are family dynamics in The Sims 4?

Family dynamics are how your Sims interact with other members of their family. You can set family dynamics for any Sim in your household, as long as they are related. Depending on which dynamic you choose, you will get different options when interacting with these Sims. The following dynamics can be chosen for each Sim:

  • Fence
  • far
  • Difficult
  • pranksters
  • Support
  • Permissive
  • Strict

Close relatives are those who get along well. They do not hesitate to talk and greet each other warmly. Distant family members tend to avoid each other, but do not feel animosity towards each other. Difficult family members are those who stay away from each other and refuse to interact unless they have to. Pranksters interact well with each other and enjoy teasing each other openly.

Other dynamics are supportive, strict and permissive. These can be chosen as dynamics between an adult and their child and this influences the type of parenting style they have. For example, a strict parent is more likely to keep their child out, while a permissive parent will be okay with it.

How to Build Family Dynamics in The Sims 4

Establishing family dynamics happens in the Create SIM card menu. When creating a family, you will now see a button under the walking style. Click this button to open the relationship menu. This will allow you to choose the relationship between your Sims. After choosing what your relationship is, another menu will appear below allowing you to choose the strength of your relationship.
