Guerrilla Games recently took the floor to explain the reasons that led them to make this extension a PS5 exclusive, in particular by evoking the staging of a battle too greedy for the PS4. And in a new statement released yesterday, the study returned this time to what seems to be an important element of the adventure: the clouds.
New images for the Horizon Forbidden West DLC
No, it’s not a joke. In a lengthy PlayStation Blog post, the devs went into great detail on how the PS5 allowed them to model “high definition clouds” and so “to improve the skyscape of the series”. An element that may seem anecdotal as it is, but which nevertheless indicates that the flight phases introduced in the main campaign should have a more important role in Burning Shores. Here’s what special effects artist Andrew Schneider has to say:
In addition to the core gameplay, we wanted to make the experience as entertaining and enjoyable as possible. Clouds aren’t just part of an immersive environment. It is an explorable landscape in its own right. Amid these cloud formations, players will be able to explore tunnels, caves, and other surprises that are sure to amuse them.
For the occasion, Guerrilla did not come empty-handed. In fact, the study took the opportunity to unveil a series of new DLC images which, it will be remembered, will take players to a new region set in Los Angeles. A new area about which very little has been revealed so far, but which will undoubtedly offer terrestrial and celestial environments of great beauty. And in case you missed it, know that the events of this expansion will take place after the end of the game.
