In it, de Jonge discussed the benefits of developing content just for PS5. burning shoresthe next DLC for Forbidden Horizon West, it was previously announced as a system exclusive. Game director de Jonge said focusing on PS5 development allowed Guerilla to “step forward” with development without having to plan for PS4 optimization.

Game director de Jonge explained how environmental richness is a priority for the Horizonte series, and the technical power of the PS5 meant they could add more detail while running at higher frame rates and resolutions. He also explained that the extra processing power meant they could run simulations faster, while making it easier to review sections of the game without hitting load times.

Here is de Jonge’s full explanation:

One of our top priorities with Horizonte games is to add a ton of detail and richness to our environments. In Forbidden Horizon West, anything we added or increased was something we would also need to have an optimization plan for PS4. In burning shoresSince we can only focus on PS5, we were able to move forward and are very excited about what we were able to accomplish creating this stunning post-post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles.

The ruins of the Los Angeles cityscape and surrounding areas are highly detailed and require high processing power and fast streaming technology to function properly. especially when the player is flying over land and can see a lot of things at once. One of the settlements is located in and around these detailed ruins, and we were able to generate a lot of activity there.

Another notable example is a particular battle scene that requires A LOT of memory and processing power! To achieve this grand vision both technically and creatively, we definitely appreciated the many benefits PS5 hardware brings.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores It will see players traveling through post-post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, which has been transformed into a flooded coastal jungle. You can watch the trailer below:
