The magical universe based on Harry Potter not only is he back, but he’s stronger and more popular than he has been in decades. Hogwarts Legacy became a cultural phenomenon in 2023 (although not all the reasons were good). According to a recent Variety publication, Hogwarts Legacy sold over 12 million copies in just two weeks, surpassing even the publisher’s most positive forecast. In Spain It’s also demonstrated success, placing over 43,000 units in its launch week alone, and we’re awaiting numbers from last week and this week.

Warner also reveals that they’ve seen a lot more fan engagement in other Harry Potter merchandise as well, showing that this was the boost the franchise needed after the mixed results of the Fantastic Beasts movies. David Haddadchairman of Warner Bros. Games, comments on the success thus:

Cheers for a well-deserved job, and we’re pretty sure we’ll be bringing in new sales records for Hogwarts Legacy in the future, as it’s still running great, and it’s not even released on PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
