Hogwarts Legacy it became the biggest global launch in Warner Bros. Games history. In the first two weeks on sale on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC alone, the game sold over 12 million copies. That number will only increase later this year when the game finally launches on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Hogwarts Legacy made $850 million in revenue
The huge amount of revenue raked in by Hogwarts Legacy in the game’s first two weeks has meant it has overtaken all previous Warner Bros. Games titles to become their biggest release, including LEGO, Batman, Mortal Kombat and Lord of the Games of rings. Players also racked up 280 million hours of gameplay, with the game becoming the most-watched single-player game on Twitch. Even the Wizarding World Digital website saw a 300% increase in traffic as players ranked in houses and earned their wands.
Despite the great interest in the game, the financial results of Warner Bros. Discovery are down from last year. On the earnings call, as transcribed by Seeking Alpha, the company said gaming couldn’t prevent them from losing “COVID-induced demand in the prior year.” Later this year WB Games will release Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and Mortal Kombat 12 has also been revealed to be in development.
