Boycott Hogwarts Legacy took an interesting turn as one of the game’s developers publicly denounced the game and announced that they wouldn’t be buying it. Parker Hartzler served as a real-time motion capture technician on Hogwarts Legacy and is listed in the game’s credits as a production outsourcing partner.
Dev slammed for hypocrisy over Hogwarts Legacy boycott
Hartzler’s Twitter feed, in which he describes himself as a trans ally and says Harry Potter creator JK Rowling “doesn’t deserve to thrive”, drew criticism from followers. People say it’s hypocritical for Hartzler to make money working on Hogwarts Legacy while asking others to boycott it (Hartzler claims he didn’t get a free copy of the game because he’s working with an external partner).
In response to being called a hypocrite, Hartzler argued that he had to work due to his financial situation and that failing to do so would have cost him his job and his house.
Here’s my place in the credits of Hogwarts Legacy, the second big budget game I’ve been credited for. I was the live technician on set, helping the mocap actors see their gear in the environments. I won’t buy the game, it’s the least I can do as an ally. pic.twitter.com/IECYTWXqsr

Many think Hartzler’s explanation of why he worked at Hogwarts Legacy makes no sense, as his tweets could end up putting him out of work anyway.
