Can we completely change the skill points awarded in Hogwarts Legacy, a common mechanic in RPGs?
Hogwarts Legacy has been an undeniable success for a few days now, and the game’s light RPG mechanics as well as a splendid and enchanting open world are among the main reasons for this success. Among the light RPG mechanics found in most games of the genre, here it is allowed to assign ability points in various categories, ranging from spells, dark arts, infiltration, request room or even the statistics of our protagonist. Inevitably, a question quickly arose to the players: can we redistribute our skill points once they have already been assigned to a category?
Hogwarts Legacy: Inflexible Talent Points
Players have been able to search all over the game for this question and the general answer is quite disappointing: no, it is not possible to redistribute skill points. No in-game character or structure can reset these points. It’s a shame, especially since it forces players to choose, quite early in the game, a certain build to stick to for the rest of their gaming experience. We’ve seen games introduce a “respect” mechanism with an update or DLC, so this feature might be coming in the near future.
In the meantime, we advise you one thing: when you have a skill point to use in Hogwarts Legacy, save it, then assign a skill point to the category of your choice, and then see its effects. If they don’t suit you, you can load your old save and assign your point elsewhere. This will allow you to experiment a bit and give you some flexibility in using those talent points.
