Recent rumors suggest that Halo Infinite may have been originally designed as an Overwatch -style hero shooter , leading to theories about the development.

Reddit user lolwutsareddit and Twitter account @HaloHubGG created posts about the rumours, which at first seemed like just suggestions that Halo Infinite started development as an Overwatch-style hero shooter.

However, both posts cite a specific Reddit post by Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier that also suggests the same thing.

While nothing can be confirmed as fact, the idea that the game may have undergone a massive change potentially late in its development cycle explains the delay of co-op in Halo Infinite, as well as other issues.

Considering these rumors, as well as the recent leaks of a Halo Infinite battle royale, the development, release, and current state of Halo Infinite has been nothing short of tumultuous.

Going through only the facts that have been confirmed shows an effective but early surprise release for a game that was far from ready for release. If these rumors about a hero shooter are confirmed to be true, it would give reasons why many felt the game was released too soon.

Unfortunately, this will do nothing to satisfy players, and until the promised features are finally added and the current issues are resolved, it looks like Halo Infinite will continue to decline.

Halo Infinite is out now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
