A new Half-Life overhaul has arrived, aiming to be spiritually in tune with Valve’s 1998 FPS game, while improving and tweaking some core mechanics to be closer to a modern 2023 shooter. Life Mmod, may look awfully naked, but subtle tweaks to visuals, gunplay, AI, and SFX probably make it the ultimate way to play.

The Half-Life overhaul mod has been in the works for a while, and all you need is the 1998 original to download this new version and add it to your Steam library. Developer Gunship Mark II also has similar plans for Half-Life 2, if you want to give another Valve classic a fresh coat of paint.

I kinda missed the boat in the original Half-Life and have been trying to get back to it for years now, and while the Black Mesa remake is still a great fit for Valve’s game, Half-Life Mmod hooked me right on. far from these small changes.

While this is obviously due to Valve’s work, all of these additions work well together to age Half-Life a bit, enough, in my opinion, that it still feels like a classic, but that hasn’t aged. as bad as you might think. It’s also hard to tell, as the improvements only become apparent with a side-by-side comparison, but Half-Life Mmod is a blast.
