Sure, GTA 5 has been around for a few years now. In direct comparison with many modern titles, the rock star title can still be seen. Maybe not because of the stately graphics, but because of the outrageously high level of detail of the open game world.

What GTA 5 looks like in 8K and with ray tracing

The latest video from the YouTube channel Digital Dreams shows that a lot can still be extracted from the graphics of Grand Theft Auto 5 today. Its videos are known to play video games with the help of elaborate mods in new splendor, 4K or even 8K and with ray tracing to shine – such as The Witcher 3, the Gothic Remake or Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you know the game.

Now Digital Dreams is tackling GTA 5 again and – what else can you say – the end result looks simply fantastic thanks to 8K and ray tracing. In the following video, the elaborate weather effects, the realistic play of light and shadow, spectacular anti-aliasing and … oh, just have a look yourself:

And yes, you probably won’t be able to watch the video in its best quality. After all, your screen must first be able to display 8K and then the high amount of data also plays a role. So you always need a decent PC with a correspondingly fast CPU and graphics card, as well as a media player that can participate.

Your GTA 5 can look the same – for one price

However, you can also try your hand at running your own GTA 5 in 8K with ray tracing – if you dare. As usual, Digital Dreams transparently lists in the video description what mods and shaders are used.

In contrast to many previous mods, they are all chargeable, as they are only accessible via Patreon pages that require a donation or subscription. If you are interested, just have a look at the corresponding Patreons from Digital Dreams, Nb.Design and Razed.

Digital Dreams also specifies which PC hardware was used for the video – and it is of course not from bad parents:

  • Mainboard: Asus Prime x470-Pro
  • CPU: Ryzen 3900x with 4.5 Ghz on all cores
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB
  • GPU: Asus TUF RTX3090 @2100mhz
  • SSD: Crucial mx500 2TB
  • HDD: Seagate Barracuda 4TB
  • CPU cooling: Corsair Hydro H100x
