A recent leak from Genshin Impact suggests that HoYoverse will be adding another weekly boss to its anime game: a giant snake named Apep. In the world of Teyvat, Apep is known as a friend of King Deshret and the father of the Wenut snakes found throughout the Sumeru Desert. The story is undoubtedly interesting, but if Apep is anything like the existing snake bosses, we should expect an unnecessarily long battle.

All of the current snake-like bosses, the Golden Wolflord, Ruin Serpent, and the recently added Setekh Wenut, can enter invulnerable states to extend their respective fights.

They can fly through the air at impractical heights or bury themselves underground to avoid harm. In the case of the Golden Wolflord, a shield must be broken with a time-consuming mini-game.

With this awkward mechanics thing going on, the snake boss will likely be even harder to deal with. Apep will be the first of the group who is not a normal world boss, but will be available to fight in a weekly trout field.

It’s said that Kaveh and Baizhu will need Apep’s boss gear to level up, so if you’re looking for one of Dendro’s new characters, you’ll be fighting this giant green snake.

The leaked information comes from the famous leaker Genshin, Merlin’s Impact, who posted an image of the boss on Twitter. It looks like Apep will also be coming with a new desert map expansion, where you’ll likely find the domain.

However, Genshin Impact version 3.5 has just started, so we won’t see Apep, Baizhu, or Kaveh for several weeks. For now, you can search for Dehya and Cyno in the banners of the first half of patch 3.5, or wait for Ayaka and Shenhe in the second half.
