Yelan is a cunning 5-star Hydro character and has cemented his status as one of the best characters in the game. Yelan is an excellent under-DPS character thanks to his Elemental Burst which unleashes a burst of Hydro DMG after every normal attack . Yelan plays similarly to another meta-defining character, Xingqiu, but instead of being a stand-in, Yelan and Xingqiu follow a lot.
When researching a character, many wonder about the viability of said character without drawing additional constellations for the character. A Constellation is Genshin Impact’s system for rewarding players when they obtain an additional copy of a character. If you take out a character you own in Genshin Impact, you will receive a “Constellation”, which will unlock a special buff for your character. In general, the more Constellations you have, the more powerful your characters become.

Constellation 1: Enter the Conspirators

- Effect: Lingering Lifeline gains 1 additional charge.
The sober appearance of this Constellation greatly facilitates the exploration of the outside world. Yelan is already a good scout character, as her Elemental Burst allows her to run faster without spending stamina. However, an extra charge means he can go twice as far, increasing the distance of his elemental ability.
Other than that, Yelan’s Elemental Burst requirements can only be an issue if you’re running Yelan solo. Pairing it with Xingqiu should make this Constellation pretty useless. However, if you want a little more ease when exploring, this is a good Constellation, although it might not be worth the price.
Constellation 2: Compete with all participants

- Effect: When Exquisite Throw performs a Coordinated Attack, it fires an additional Water Arrow that deals 14% of Yelan’s Max HP as Hydro DMG. This effect can activate once every 1.8 seconds.
This is similar to the final Xingqiu Constellation in that it adds an additional Water Missile for every other attack. This is a good constellation that will greatly increase Yelan’s damage. If you’re looking to get low constellations for Yelan, its second constellation is a good stopping point.
Constellation 3: Beware of cheater dice

- Effect: Increases the level of Clarion dice of depth by 3. The maximum level of improvement is 15.
This is a simple damage increase for Yelan’s Elemental Blast. Constellations 3 and 5 are generally not recommended for all characters to enjoy on their own and are more like thresholds to reach the next constellation, Constellation 4 or 6. That being said, a damage boost from Elemental Burst is always good.
Constellation 4: bait and switch

- Effect: Increases max HP of all party members by 10% for 25 seconds for each opponent marked by the Lifeline when the Lifeline explodes. This way, a maximum increase of 40% Max HP can be achieved.
It’s usually not a big constellation, but it can be useful for characters like Hu Tao who stray from HP. Aiming for this constellation is not recommended. If you have enough funds to go to Constellation 4, it is recommended to go for Constellation 6.
Constellation 5: The dealer’s trick

- Effect: Increases the level of the Lingering Lifeline by 3. The maximum enhancement level is 15.
Yelan’s elemental ability is a decent, but not incredibly significant part of his damage output. While that’s good, especially since you’ll have Constellation 1 at this point, you’ll probably be aiming for Constellation 6.
Constellation 6: Winner Takes All

- Effect: After using Depth-Clarion Dice, Yelan will enter the Mastermind state. In this state, all of Yelan’s normal attacks will be special forward spikes. These revolutionary beards will have abilities similar to normal revolutionary beards and the DMGs dealt will be considered charged attack DMG, which will be 156% of the DMG of a normal revolutionary beard.
Constellation 6 is the best constellation Yelan. His revolutionary barbs are now an integral part of his kit and will deal a substantial amount of damage. Although the price of this constellation is expensive, if you manage to get your hands on this constellation, you should have no problem deleting any future content featuring this character.
