Following allegations of sexual harassment, Genshin Impact Tighnari’s voice actor Elliot Gindi will not play the archer from the anime game Dendro in future releases, and HoYoverse will cite “breach of contract” as the reason for the termination of the partnership.

In a February 16 tweet, HoYoverse wrote, “Dear Travelers, After communicating with the voice recording agency, we hereby confirm that Elliot Gindi, Tighnari’s English voice actor, will no longer be playing the character in the due to breach of contract. . ”

This is followed by confirmation that “at this time, we are communicating with the voice recording agency regarding casting and re-recording matters. We will gradually replace Tighnari’s existing voice lines in-game and post these updates in appropriate announcements.”

He announcement comes in the wake of sexual harassment allegations against Gindi, who allegedly engaged in an inappropriate conversation with several fans. He later admitted to this in a lengthy Twitlonger titled simply “I owe an apology”, but pushed back against allegations that he spoke to underage gamers. This was the last post on Gindi’s Twitter, whose icon and banner image were later removed.

HoYoverse hasn’t confirmed that he severed ties with Gindi following this, citing only “breach of contract,” so keep that in mind.

The news was met with an outpouring of positive responses, with the voice of the game’s male traveler, Zach Aguilar, writing “I love you HoYovere”. while Yoimiya actress Jenny Yokobori simply responds with “thank you”.

HoYoverse has promised to keep fans updated on Gindi’s replacement, so for now it’s a simple case of “watching this space.” As more details emerge, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
