A new Genshin Impact leak has revealed that HoYoverse plans to expand the Sumeru Desert once again. So far, the anime game’s desert has mostly been a source of tragedy if you’ve completed its longer world quests, so hopefully this new area will spice things up a bit and provide some new perspectives and interesting gameplay. . Long jogs across the sand to get from place to place aren’t as magical as they once were.

The Sumeru Desert is huge, and there are a lot of interesting lore attached to the location, which become apparent during long missions like Golden Slumber and The Dirge of Bilqis. But a third desert expansion with no growth for the jungles of Sumeru seems a little odd, at least to me.

If the leaks are as valid as they seem, the new desert area also adds what looks like an oasis of sorts, so the setting should provide a bit of a visual change. The most fascinating parts of the existing desert are found underground, so it would be nice to have some interesting exploration of the desert in the sun for a change.

The expansion will branch out from the northwest section of the Hadramaveth Desert, and there appear to be two new statues of the seven to interact with: one in an area called Lonerock Desert and one in Waftgaol.

The never-before-seen images of the map come from a leaker called MemetrollsXD on Twitter, and they make me feel optimistic after the previous desert expansion.

However, we won’t see the new locations for a few weeks, as Genshin Impact version 3.5 has just kicked off. While you wait, you can lure Dehya and Cyno, two of the community’s favorite desert-born characters.
