Forza Motorsport showed up in a big way at January’s Xbox Developer Direct event, though we didn’t get a solid release date for the next racing reboot. The team showcased more cars, tracks and general game features at the show, maybe even a little too cars, as it turns out.

Shortly after the presentation in January, the developer posted on his blog a summary of everything that was shown during the live stream. Then, on March 2, the team added this note regarding some changes they made to the release:

We’ve updated this blog to remove mentions of some cars that won’t be available in the base game of Forza Motorsport. We’ll share more in the future when these vehicles come to Forza Motorsport and how they can be obtained. Sorry for any confusion.”

The team didn’t specify which cars they were (although a Forza Reddit post claims to have discovered them), but yes, it looks like Turn 10 accidentally showed some post-launch content in the footage of Forza Motorsport pre-launch.

However, our biggest takeaway from this update is the mention of a “base” game for the upcoming title. This is the first hint we’ve seen of some sort of DLC plan, and it makes us wonder if these cars will land in a premium add-on pack or as part of some kind of “live service” model for Forza Motorsport.

The Forza Horizon series is getting a lot of DLC cars these days, both paid and free via the “Festival Playlist”, and we wonder if Motorsport will introduce their own model to add free content. Hopefully soon the dev team will clarify where these cars end up in the game’s DLC map.

What do you think of this unfortunate update? Leave your thoughts below.
