Fortnite Vaults provide a handy stash of Mythic Weapons, Slurp Juice, and more to supplement your inventory with useful kit, but to open them you must use a Vault Keycard; otherwise, they will remain firmly locked with you trapped outside. For Fortnite week 4 missions, you need to open a vault with a vault map, but you’re unlikely to find anything lying around unless you’re very lucky. For the method you need to follow, here’s how to get a keycard and use it to open Fortnite Vaults.
Where to find chests in Fortnite

There are Fortnite safes in three named locations, which will appear as icons on the map once the first phase of Eye of the Storm reduction is complete. You can find them in the following places:
- brutal fortress – Right next to the courtyard hallway on the north side
- broken slabs – in the cave under the hill on the northwest side
- mega city – under the street at the level of the river on the northeast side
If you have a Vault Map in your possession, you can equip it to project a dotted line that leads directly to the nearest Fortnite Vault, which you can then follow to reach it. Make sure you’re ready to use a weapon again if you encounter an opponent along the way, or risk getting knocked out and missing out on that sweet loot.
How to Open a Vault Using a Vault Card in Fortnite

To open a vault, you need to get your hands on a vault card, which drops a Fortnite Highcard boss when defeated. Ideally, these bosses spawn near chests, so you don’t need to travel far to find them. With Highcard removed, grab the keycard, then head to the nearest safe where you can interact with the keypad to open a safe using a safe keycard in Fortnite. Inside you’ll find rare chests, mythic weapons, Slurp Juice and more to increase your chances of getting a Victory Royale.
If another player draws Highcard before you, all is not necessarily lost! A key icon will be displayed on the map to indicate where the vault map is currently located, so if you find it you can eliminate the opponent and steal it from them, then use it to open the vault and claim this loot for yourself.
