FIFA is convinced that its rival EA Sports FC will be the “best electronic game”.
Yeah, whatever that means. As reported by Times writer Martyn Ziegler, FIFA boss Gianni Infantino has apparently said that FIFA’s new soccer sim will be looking to go head-to-head with EA Sports FC. Apparently, FIFA games will always be “the best electronic game for a boy or a girl”, according to Infantino.
Infantino says FIFA will be in direct competition with EA Sports by publishing a rival video game (EA Sports rejected requests for money to keep the FIFA name) “The new game FIFA -FIFA 25, 26, 27, etc. .the best electronic game for any girl or boy, we will have news about it very soon”.March 16, 2023

Maybe Infantino is referring to video games here as electronic games, in which case he’s technically not wrong. Then again, he’s the man who said ‘I feel gay today’ when asked about Qatar’s strict anti-LGBTQ+ laws at the FIFA World Cup last year , so puking words are actually the norm for Infantino at this point.
We’ll have to wait and see what Infantino and FIFA can come up with to counter EA Sports FC. After the latter company turned down the licensing fee from FIFA, they opted to create their own football sim, calling it EA Sports FC with a name that will likely take a while to get correct.
Love him or hate him, football fans are stuck with Infantino as FIFA President for the foreseeable future, after the man was re-elected FIFA President for the third time earlier this week. This is a renewed term that will take Infantino to 2027 as FIFA President, so we really have a long journey here.
EA Sports is close to finalizing a deal with the Premier League for the license, which means FIFA already have an uphill battle ahead of them to compete with the new game.
