Electronic Arts recently made the news by announcing the end of its partnership with FIFA, revealing the new name of its football license: EA Sports FC. But before discovering this title, football fans will be entitled to FIFA 23. Regarding this opus, recent leaks suggest major new features, especially for the players’ favorite mode, Ultimate Team.
The collective, an essential aspect of FUT
Electronic Arts is now in first place in the hearts of players passionate about beautiful games with its license FIFAa favorite place stolen from PES thanks in particular to its famous Ultimate Team game mode. In this mostly online mode, players create their team from scratch using “collectible player cards”. The goal is roughly to chain victories and collect money to buy his favorite players to build the best team possible.

If Ultimate Team has been refined over the years, there is one principle that has hardly changed. Team building is obviously subject to specific rules, effectively limiting the possibilities. Having absolutely abused cards does not guarantee victory. There is a collective system, determined both by the nationality of each player as well as the championship and the team in which they play: thus, players from the same country, the same championship or the same team will have better affinities between them, increasing their statistics in the process.

This feature is essential in FUT and adds a certain strategic aspect that must be respected if you want to build the best possible team. Except that the rules could soon change. If FIFA will soon become EA SPORTS FC and should experience several new features, FIFA 23 should already include some, starting with an overhaul of this collective system specific to Ultimate Team.

Only N°10 in my Team

The information is not official and comes to us from leaker FIFA Weaver. It is therefore necessary to take big tweezers with the details that will follow. According to the leaker, FIFA 23 would abandon the collective system as we know it to offer more versatility. Gone is the individual boost linked to the collective, which would be replaced by a star system, up to a maximum of three stars. But the most important rumor concerns the affinity between the players. Still according to Weaver, each nation and league would work together, implying an infinite range of possibilities.

As it stands, it’s a little hard to imagine how this system would work, but the idea remains particularly attractive. Again, do not take these statements at face value and wait for a clarification from Electronic Arts. Anyway, this information could delight more than one player, starting with Real Madrid supporters who, failing to see Kylian Mbappé land at home, will at least be able to slip him into their FUT composition.
