It’s the end of another busy week, and with the release of Hogwarts Legacy happening today (the standard release), we thought we’d take the opportunity to reflect on how good the new release slate for Xbox in 2023 is so far.

As for Metacritic, Xbox has been absolutely inundated with high-quality titles in recent weeks. You can see in the list below what the current averages are for the best Xbox Series X games in 2023 (though we’ve removed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition as it was released digitally last year).

Note that Metacritic only ranks the “top” list based on games with 7 or more professional reviews, otherwise Firewall_ (83) there We were here forever (81) they would also be included in eighth and ninth place respectively. .

  1. Persona 4 Gold (90)
  2. Dead space (89)
  3. Hogwarts Legacy (89)
  4. HIFI RUSH (88)
  5. Person 3 Mobile (87)
  6. Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition (87)
  7. Rise of the Monster Hunter (86)
  8. one piece odyssey (78)

If you remember for most of the past few years, we haven’t seen this level of number of potential Game of the Year titles in January and early February. It’s usually a quieter time for new releases, but not this year!

It looks like this momentum is going to continue as we move forward into February and March and April as well, with people like atomic heart, Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, Resident Evil 4, minecraft legends, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and more on the board over the next few weeks. Exciting things to come, folks!
