The Etrian Odyssey development team shared a special message with fans this week following the announcement of Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection.

That same post also provided a brief update on the next game in the series. In the note, Atlus indicates that the hardware has changed and that two screens can no longer be used. Ultimately, it will “take longer” to create a new entry in the series.

Hello everyone, this is the “Etrian Odyssey” development team. It’s been a long time. First of all, thanks to all your support, the “Etrian Odyssey” series can celebrate its 16th anniversary this year. All thanks to everyone who loves to play the games, thank you very much.

To everyone who has been looking forward to the new game, we really appreciate your patience… The hardware has changed from the dual-screen DS, and we have to admit it will take longer to create a new ‘Etrian Odyssey.

During our research, these remasters were produced based on the concept “We want people to be able to play the original trilogy, which is no longer accessible, on current consoles”.

Gameplay has changed significantly from the dual-screen DS, but we’ve also prepared methods for those who want to enjoy hand-drawn maps.

We would like to use the feedback on this remaster for the new game “Etrian Odyssey”. We’d love to hear your feedback, whether you’ve played previous titles in the series or are playing “Etrian Odyssey” for the first time.

We look forward to hearing from you.

The Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection will launch on Switch on June 1, 2023.
