The E3 2023 show is getting closer, assuming it actually takes place. Although the biggest game companies plan to do without it, the attractions should not be missing.
Unless something unexpected happens, the E3 2023 show will take place, both stationary and online. The counter on the event site measures the time remaining for June 11when it is scheduled to start. television games foreseen are scheduled for the days of June 13 to 16.
Assuming E3 2023 comes to fruition, it will be the first time the event has held since 2019 (not including the 2021 online event, which has been dubbed “pseudo-E3” by industry media). That being said, “event” can be abused in case that particular event, such as many industry heavyweights will not be present.
Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are not going there
E3 2023 will likely be missed by the biggest console makers. In recent years, Microsoft, sony there nintendo – as they are called here – began to organize their own shows and they’ve apparently decided that this form of player communication is in their best interests, both image-wise and (presumably) financially.
The Redmond giant is set to host another edition of the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, which will take place on June 11, still as part of the June Summer Game Fest event (starting June 8). It looked like the company’s showcase would focus on showcasing Starfield, but when revealing a new release date for the game, Bethesda has announced a separate event: Starfield Direct. However, other attractions should not be missing: Forza Motorsport will surely be present and there is talk of the new Fable.

Sony, on the other hand, has been preparing for the PlayStation Showcase for quite some time. However, we still don’t know when the event might take place. However, industry insiders suggest we should expect it before E3 2023.
It’s hard to say how things are going with Nintendo. Although the company recently confirmed that it won’t be appearing at E3, it will be in June after the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. So “Big N” may need a boot window for its future smaller games. Will a show like the Nintendo Direct be enough to arouse the interest of gamers?
E3 2023: who will be there?
Ubisoft
Among the big companies, the show is expected to feature Ubisoft. Moreover, the French not only confirmed the presence, but also announced that announce a new single-player game in a “discontinued” series. One of the most likely candidates seems to be the Heroes of Might and Magic series (since the seventh installment was released over seven years ago). We certainly won’t miss Assassins’ Creed, after all 10 games in the series are in development.
Japan
Judging by the shows of recent years, Japanese companies should not be missing at E3 2023 either. We can expect to see, among others, Square Enix, Bandai Namco or Capcom. As for what games they’ll feature, we’re guessing for now. For example, the presence of Bandai Namco might suggest that we’ll see Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, but it’s not impossible that it will be shown during Summer Game Fest.
The same goes for Kojima Productions, due to the friendship between Hideo Kojima and Geoff Keighley, the creator and animator of SGF. So if we see Death Stranding 2 in June, it will be during this event.
¿EA?
During E3 2023 we can also see a show of electronic arts. However, I deliberately wrote “during” and not “at”, because EA used to run a separate EA Play Live program. In 2019, such a show took place in Los Angeles during the fair, but in practice it was not part of it. In 2021, the presentation of the company took place after the “pseudo-E3”, and last year it was completely abandoned. Can we expect EA Play Live this year? How? We will probably find out soon.

The organizer of E3 2023 is the company ReedPop, which does not usually announce the participants of its events before they start. However, its chairman, Lance Fensterman, recently told TheVerge that preparations are “full steam ahead” and that this case is unique and the style of the event will be adapted to the expectations of the player. This could mean that a slightly more detailed schedule for the event will be announced soon, which would have been largely decided already.
