Has it really been almost a year since Elden Ring hit Xbox? It certainly isn’t, as FromSoftware’s latest epic lingers in the memory of many gamers. Oh, and by many players means a lot of players.

Publisher Bandai Namco has revealed that Elden Ring has sold 20 million units since its arrival last February. Considering the uncompromising nature of FromSoftware’s style of play, this is a super impressive feat.

“Since its release on February 25, 2022, Elden Ring continues to spark theories and debates as it explores Middle-earth across the world, bringing together characters and events to reveal a deep and mysterious story.

Warmly received by players and acclaimed by critics, the title received several awards throughout the year. Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. and FromSoftware, Inc. are very grateful to every gamer who enters this world.”

This does not mean that Elden Ring is a entirely new IP as well, with no literal connection to Dark Souls in its title. Of course, mainstream gamers know what to expect from the Dark Souls developer at this point, but to sell 20 million copies worldwide, it must have garnered broad appeal as well.

Either way, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware will likely be very happy with this huge commercial milestone. An ‘Elden Ring 2’ is starting to look a lot more likely, isn’t it?
