The news broke today in Polygon, and it’s not good. More than 200 people lost their jobs at Electronic Arts this week. The entire team responsible for testing the game, what is known in the industry as QA, of Apex Legends, took to the streets. EA is done with Baton Rouge the company that was in charge of these operations. All those affected received 60 days’ salary and health insurance as compensation.
“As part of our ongoing global strategy, we are expanding the distribution of our Apex Legends testing team and ending testing execution that was concentrated in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which has impacted services provided by our external vendor Our global team, which includes remote testers across the United States, allows us to increase the number of weekly hours we can spend testing and optimizing the game, and reflects our commitment to better understand and serve our growing community around the world.”
EA just laid off its entire Baton Rouge studio, which is basically all of its Apex Legends QA staff.
