Call of Duty might be one of the biggest franchises on PS5 and PS4 according to Sony, but it looks like EE. UU. actually accounted for more monthly active users over the past six months. This made EA the No. 1 publisher on Playstation and Xbox by a clear margin, meaning it overtook Activision and epic games.
Why is EA the number one publisher of PlayStation and Xbox?
FIFA 23 was the most compelling title over the six-month period according to an analysis by Ampere Games (thanks GamesIndustry.biz). In February alone, players played FIFA 23 35% of the days of the month. Other games that continue to be popular include Madden NFL 23 and Need for Speed Unbound, while the Dead Space and Wild Hearts releases have also bolstered their catalog.
On the other hand, Activision received a noticeable boost in November due to the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2. This didn’t last long however and they fell back to third place on the list. Epic Games has been pretty steady over the six months, mostly thanks to the success of Fortnite.
Notably, Final Fantasy 14 and Genshin Impact also saw high levels of engagement in February, but neither Square Enix nor miHoYo were among the top publishers.
