In February, we introduced an upcoming Xbox release called DEAR which we thought was very good and based on most of the reviews posted this week, it looks like it will live up to the hype.

As of this writing, DREDGE doesn’t have enough reviews to generate an average on Metacritic for Xbox Series X, but the PS5 version sits at an impressive level. 85and the PC version is slightly lower in 80.

Here’s a quick look at some of those impressions:

“DREDGE is a fishing game that breaks all the rules and gets better for it. The combination of relaxing fishing and Lovecraftian horror is a match made in heaven (or maybe hell) and the consistent cycle catching sea creatures and selling them for upgrades is always compelling. If you think you can handle the horrors that lurk below, you’ll find a fantastic game like no other.”

It’s not often you see a game deliver its elevator pitch with such perfection, and while Dredge’s progression systems make it difficult to impact its final act, “healthy fishing game meets the lovecraftian horror” is always an idea made by experts.

“Dredge is both relaxing and energizing in the best way. While the day/night loop could be handled better, it’s still an exciting sea voyage and worth checking out.”

“Dredge never says too much, which is why it works so well as a chiller. It’s spooky, but never explicitly grotesque, and it can also be beautiful and relaxing. It’s mostly up to you whether you tempt fate in the dark or whether you stick to the days and stay on the shores. The way his mood can change so quickly and the intrigue of his sparingly told story kept me spellbound.”

“We will say that the game can get repetitive when you need to earn money or certain items. Also, dealing with the game’s grid-based menus can be quite tricky. The remedy for both is these updates. very important days that ease frustrations with low stocks or limited fishing capacity. Yet, despite the rocky waters, Dredge’s rewarding progression and enjoyable premise keep it afloat.”

“Overall, Dredge is a fun and enjoyable fishing game with a low-fat horror layer. The mechanics, scalability, and variety of weird fish are enough to make the time light and engaging. interest is the narrative or the atmosphere, you may be disappointed.”

There are a few complaints here and there (6/10 seems to be the lowest score a reviewer has given the game so far), but overall it looks like DREDGE will definitely be worth it if you like His look. of this
